WFP Team for a Community Sensitisation Outreach in Ntimba Parish, Galiraaya Subcounty, kayunga District.

A team from Water For People (WFP) Uganda in partnership with Caritus held a sanitation and hygiene community sensitisation outreach in Ntimba Parish, Galiraaya Subcounty kayunga District.
Water For People project was identified by MoH to manage sanitation and hygiene funds (SHF) aiming at improving universal access to safe sanitation and hygiene in communities, public institutions, schools and health care facilities.
The project was implemented in 7 pilot Districts like Buikwe, Buyende, kabarole, kole, kamuli, luuka and Kayunga.
The target subcounties include Bbaale, kayonza, Galiraaya, kitimbwa and kayunga Town Council.
In kayunga District, a total of 7 latrine blocks were constructed with 4 blocks for girls being constructed in 4 schools and 3 unisex blocks in 3 health care facilities.
Under the project youths and VHTs were trained on how to construct these latrines such that they aid the community members in latrine construction.
Mrs Cissy from Caritus was impressed on finding most homes with good safely maintained toilets as guided by the foot soldiers.
However, a few homes were found without the prescribed facilities.
The team requested the OC Ntimba police station for support in enforcement such that those without toilets are apprehended and subjected to community service (Bulungi bwa nsi).
