AIDE Inception Meeting at the District Headquarters.

A team from Arise Integrated Development Efforts (AIDE) held an inception meeting with stakeholders at the District Headquarters.

AIDE is a woman led NGO working towards improving the economic and social well-being of Women and vulnerable Children through empowering them with knowledge and skills.

This project mainly focuses on women land rights and governance.

Project core programs include;

1.Agriculture and economic strengthening
2. Health life initiatives
3. Education
4. Climate change
5. Humanitarian support
6. Prevention and response to violence
7. Governance and leadership development.

AIDE will be implemented in kayunga,Busaana, kangulumila, kayonza, and Bbaale Subcounties.

Project objectives include

1. Improving women's understanding and participation in land matters.
2. Accessing information on land so as to secure their properties.
3. Increase participation of rural women in land tenure governance.

Activities to be implemented.

1. Capacity building among rural women on gender equality.
2. Train 500 women on land governance who will transfer information to the community
3. Conduct 7 sessions on land act of Uganda 1998
4. Conduct quarterly follow-up on women at committee level
5. Organise local and regional exposure work shops.
6. Hold engagements with officials from land offices
7. Organise quarterly land rights clinics with ministry and District land officials

The Deputy RDC Mr. Trevor Solomon Baleke thanked the team for this women empowerment project and pledged support Incase this project doesn't bring about gender based violence since land is a critical issue in Uganda .

He advised them to prepare women but also sharpen the men to avoid Gender based violence.
