Fish farmers in kayunga District were overwhelmed with joy when posh supplies delivered a consignment of 1.5 tones of fish feeds and 30,000 tilapia seeds to farmers.

 

 kayunga District fisheries sector awarded posh supplies a contract to supply both fish seed and feed using the PMG funds.

 

The inputs were procured by Production Dept/ Fisheries sector.

 

The capture fisheries are overfished hence the only alternative to reduce on the pressure on capture fisheries is Fish farming.

The District Chairperson presented some new members of the District executive committee.

 

Hon Fahad kamanda the secretary for education was replaced by Hon Nanda Micheal and Hon kayemba Ivan secretary for production was replaced by Hon Ntege as Secretary for Health. 

 

The dropped Councillors are facing various charges under the Chief magistrate Court.

 

The District Chairperson's State of the District address was postponed to next Council sitting.

 

MAAIF awards best vanilla growers in Uganda.

Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries, enimiro, CRS, Vatex and Makerere University are awarding the best Vanilla growers in Uganda.

 

Vanilla competition is ongoing in 12 target Districts including Ibanda, Rubiriizi, kasese, kagadi, bundibugyo, kayunga, masaka, kyotera, mukono, buikwe, Mbale and sironko. 

 

The Criteria for the selection include; 

 

1. Ugandan citizen engaging in vanilla growing.

 

2. Growers must demonstrate good horticulture practices.
