MAAIF awards best vanilla growers in Uganda.

Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries, enimiro, CRS, Vatex and Makerere University are awarding the best Vanilla growers in Uganda.

Vanilla competition is ongoing in 12 target Districts including Ibanda, Rubiriizi, kasese, kagadi, bundibugyo, kayunga, masaka, kyotera, mukono, buikwe, Mbale and sironko. 

The Criteria for the selection include; 

1. Ugandan citizen engaging in vanilla growing.

2. Growers must demonstrate good horticulture practices. 

3. Growers must be on small scale under 2 hectares of vanilla plantation.

 Categories of award winners.

1. Best Vanilla grower per district. 

2. Best vanilla grower per region. 

3. Best vanilla youth grower country wide. 

4. Best vanilla female grower country wide.

5. Best vanilla grower country wide.

10 million Shillings award will be shared amongst the 5 categories of the award winners.

Application forms are available in the Office of the District Agricultural Officer or Subcounty Agricultural Officers Offices of the target District local governments and returned to the same Offices.

 Applicants should submit a photocopy of their ID and LC 1 letter confirming details about the farmer.

Applications close on 31st October 2024.
