DISTRICT CHAIRPERSON REMINDS PARISH CHIEFS ABOUT THEIR ROLES
The District Chairperson Mr Serwanga W. Tom has reminded parish chiefs about their roles as government change agents in the transformation of households from poverty to middle income people.
He further instructed them to revive voluntary participation of the communities in community work (bulungi bwansi) in their areas of jurisdiction saying that, the government had invested a lot of money in public projects like roads, buildings , water sources among others but the community was reluctant in the maintenance of such projects, claiming that they were government projects , whereas the government only implements them for the benefit of the communities.
He also told them that it was their role as administrators at both parish and village levels to mentor and also train political leaders at that level about their roles and responsibilities.
He promised to support them in the revival of the voluntary participation of communities in community work and program and he later came up with a program about how the District Executive Committee would be visiting the different sub counties.
The meeting took place from the district council hall at Ntenjeru
