PDM Stakeholders Review Meeting at the District Headquarters.

Kayunga District PDM Stakeholders held a meeting to review the progress of PDM implementation in the District.

 

In the meeting,three priority enterprises were selected in which PDM funds will be invested for FY 2024/2025.

 

 The enterprises include Horticulture, coffee farming and piggery/poultry.

 

Since PDM inception in 2020/2021, kayunga District has so far received a total of 14,753,500,000 billion Shillings disbursed to 71 PDM saccos.

 

Each Sacco has so far received 207,800,000 million Shillings.

 

PDM disbursement challenges include:

 

1. PDM leaders extorting money from beneficiaries.

 

2. System breakdown challenges

 

3. Change of telephone numbers by beneficiaries.

 

4. Lack of gadgets like laptops.

 

5. Delays from MoICT to attend to PDM Sacco's issues.

 

6. Wendi mobile wallet challenges.

 

7. Change of enterprises by beneficiaries.

 

Proposed interventions to reduce PDM challenges.

 

1. All beneficiaries lists will be endorsed by GISOs to ensure transparency.

 

2. Involvement of PDCs in allocation of PDM funds.

 

3. Put in place multi stakeholders innovative platforms (MSHIPs) and work on value chain segments.

 

4. As a mitigation to climate change,every beneficiary should plant 3 fruit trees.

 

The PDM focal person informed the members that only the 3 selected enterprises will receive PDM funds and urged PDM beneficiaries to at least plant 3 fruit trees as a mitigation to climate change.

 

The DISO warned PDM leaders , that are extorting funds from beneficiaries and promised to arrest whoever will be got doing so.

 

The LCV chairperson thanked the NRM government for transforming people's lives through this program and facilitating the PDCs.

 

He also reminded them that this is a revolving fund and should be returned back.
