A team from Girls for Climate Action (G4CA) held an inception meeting with stakeholders at the District headquarters.
Girls for Climate Action is a Youth/ young Women led Movement that is centering their lived realities to advocate for climate justice.
This movement started in 2016 by a group of 9 young women and girls who were experiencing climate extremes of drought and flooding.
This project is funded by Africa Women Development Fund.
It's targeting young women btn 18 - 30 years.
It's main emphasis is on
climate, leadership advocacy and women empowerment.
The project will be implemented in kayunga town council but all other Subcounties will be represented.
Activities include:
1. Providing solutions to communities to adopt to climate change.
2. Building capacities to farmers to be able to adopt to the best practices.
3. Investing in individuals, local leaders and institutions
to restore climate change.
4. Creating various eco solutions for schools.
5. Esterblishing kitchen gardens within schools.
The DCAO welcomed the team and appreciated their initiative to climate action.
He pledged his commitment to work with them.
Senior Musaazi was identified as the District focal person.
He requested G4CA to involve stakeholders while carrying out there duties in Communities.
