UGANDA AIDS COMMISSION (UAC) HELD A TRAINING ON HOW TO END HIV BY 2030
The team from the Uganda Aids Commission (UAC) held a meeting with the heads of departments in Kayunga District. The Deputy CAO chaired the meeting and the purpose was to discuss ways on how to end the infection of Aids by 2030 as per the UNAID target. Doctor Mukwaya the Chairperson UAC applauded Uganda as a global success in the fight against Aids which is attributed to the leadership of YK Museveni of using his multiple approaches. He said Uganda started fighting aids 30years ago which was at 18% but has reduced to 5.5% using the 5-pillar approach which was launched by the president.
The HIV focal person said Kayunga District has a total population of 427,578 but out of this 26,997 are HIV positive and only 12,338 are on treatment. She therefore encouraged men to escort their wives to health centres and engage young people to abstain from sex till they are ready as a way of preventing the spread of HIV Aids.
